Though I have imposed a moratorium on buying myself new books, I was intrigued by this Friday’s downtown book fair, where you’ll get good deals and a pre-purchase opportunity for what’s sure to be a hot post-holiday seller.
From 8-1.30 pm on the Cades Schutte Building Lanai at 1000 Bishop/King St., you can purchase Watermark Publishing titles and have some of them signed.

The Blue Tomato: The Inspirations Behind the Cuisine of Alan WongFrom 11.30-1.30 Chef Alan Wong will sign his new cookbook, The Blue Tomato: The Inspirations Behind the Cuisine of Alan Wong, which makes its debut at his restaurant Dec. 1. This book will not be available in stores before the holidays. He’ll also sign The Hawai‘i Farmers Market Cookbook – Vol. 2: The Chefs’ Guide to Fresh Island Foods, which features recipes he and 17 other top Island chefs have crafted, using locally grown food.

Also appearing at the book signing are Arnold Hiura (Kau Kau: Cuisine and Culture in the Hawaiian Islands), Chef Kevin Chong (Chef Mavro Restaurant), Chef Hiroshi Fukui (Hiroshi Eurasian Tapas) and Chef Eric Leterc (The Pacific Club), contributing chefs from The Hawaii Farmers Market Cookbook – Vol. 2.

The Hawaii Farmers Market Cookbook - Vol. 2: The Chefs' Guide to Fresh Island FoodsWhen you purchase a copy of The Hawaii Farmers Market Cookbook—Volume 2 you’ll get a set of discounts and complimentary item coupons at select chefs’ restaurants.

Watermark will also hold an online book fair from 12/3 – 12/12 to offer the same special pricing deals to those who cannot attend the fair in person.
